I have gone to the Alzheimer’s support group a few times. Now that I am retired I hope to make it more often. I’ve never thought of myself as a support group type, you know Hi, my name is Pam and I am a _______. I would never disclose any “secret information” to a group of strangers. Somehow this little group doesn’t seem that way, maybe I have misunderstood the support group meeting. Alzheimer/Dementia is a terrible disease, robbing an individual of everything, the brain deteriorates literally changing a person to the point they are unable accomplish the smallest tasks.

My husband has this awful disease and it is very painful watching him disappear before my eyes. I struggle with knowing as much as I love him I will be unable to care for him in the later stages, and unlike most other diseases, it’s effects vary from one to another, so you have no idea when this could happen. One thing I know is God loves him, and we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
